Connective tissue, collagen and silicon

by Vincent Trienpont on Jul 17, 2025
Bindweefsel, collageen en silicium

What do you know about connective tissue?

The function of connective tissue in our body is to provide support and to connect body tissues to each other.
Did you know that the skin also consists mainly of connective tissue?

The skin, blood vessels, and especially the lungs have a more elastic structure. Our bones, for example, are made of strong connective tissue.

These connective tissues consist largely of collagen. Collagen is a protein that provides structure to the tissue. To produce collagen, we must provide our bodies with the necessary proteins and vitamin C. This vitamin plays a vital role in collagen formation.

Silicon is also found in connective tissue. It's a trace element that's important for the construction and structure of connective tissue, among other things. Silicon has the ability to bind water, thus contributing to the resilience of tissue (such as skin). Silicon is also present in hair and nails, stimulating their growth. To support this growth process, silicon must be continuously supplied through food.

Because silicon in its natural form (including through food) is difficult for the body to absorb, it's best to look for a good form of silicon. A good, stable form is water-soluble silicic acid with bioactive effects.

Collagen, silicon and vitamin C are strong partners for the construction of collagen and therefore for connective tissue.

It's no coincidence that Hair Skin Nail Boost contains precisely these ingredients: collagen, vitamin C, and bioactive silicic acid! The latter is a more active silicon, hence the name ba'sil.
